Optimal Process Design of Small Scale SMR Process for LNG Vessel

Recently, due to regulations on emissions of vessels, fuel is changing liquefied natural gas (LNG). When using LNG as fuel, it advantageous in terms saving and boil-off control if a small-scale liquefaction process installed the ship. However, limited space, for ships has consider not only efficiency but also simplicity compactness. In this respect, different from onshore plants, research insufficient. Therefore, paper performs comparative analysis by simplifying composition mixed refrigerant process. Additionally, single used pursue compactness For analysis, designed simulated, specific power consumption calculated required liquefy unit objective function optimize. As result, confirmed that when number refrigerants reduced 5 4, about 1% difference, 3, decreases 23%, resulting decrease performance.
